The May 11th spike was driven by the grand final of the Eurovision and this year's winner - Switzerland.
Negative sentiment prevailed
This year, while numerous tweets highlighted themes of love and encouraged unity and acceptance, others promoted division and intolerance which drove negative sentiment.
Boycott was a prominent theme
Negative sentiment towards the contest stood out prominently, owing to the banning of political discussions on the stage of Eurovision.
Most active discussion was in Spain and the US
In the US, TikTok and Twitter were widely used for discussions of the event. In Spain, posts highlight memorable moments from the days leading up to the final.
Millennial males took the lead
Gen Z in their twenties and millennials led the discussions. Additionally, the event was almost equally discussed by both genders with males being more interested.
